From red, orange, yellow, green, blue to purple, we’re embracing strong colors today.  Highlighting a color wheel full of winter outfits and looks.

This post is a collection of different looks dedicated to winter wear.  Accompanied by a symphony of colors, some of these looks are tonal monochromatic while others are palettes of contrasting colors.  With the weather being so cold and gloomy, I love adding pops of color to brighten winter days.

RED to ORANGE

From red to orange, both of these are tonal monochromatic looks.  The red outfit is anchored by a deeper tone burgundy, while the orange look is anchored by black with tonal shades of orange throughout.  I find that tonal looks are a great way to play and experiment with color without looking overdone.  If you have reservations about this styling, I’d suggest starting with a classic red coat (this Lauren Ralph Lauren red coat is beautiful, under $200) and building from there.  A red coat is a fantastic hero piece to style with simple casual outfits as well as dressy looks.

ORANGE to YELLOW

Both of these looks are somewhat tonal punctuated with a neutral color.  The shades of yellow naturally pairs well with red.  Imagine sunset colors.  Yellow overall is such a happy and bright color, making it a great piece for all seasons.

YELLOW to GREEN

I find that green can sometimes be a difficult color.  With my olive skin tone, I do better with deeper green tones, such as emerald, army or forrest green.  Without looking like Christmas decorations, I went with pink instead of red to pair with green.  Green also pairs well with blue (as seen here).  Regardless, green is a beautiful color to experiment with.  Jewel tone greens have so much depth and sophistication.

GREEN to BLUE

In my mind, blue is basically a neutral color.  Outside of denim blue, I love jewel tone blues such as sapphire and cobalt.  These colors are grounded in depth and so incredibly chic.  There’s a quiet level of sophistication to them that’s hard to describe.  If you love jewel tone blue, I’d recommend starting out with a statement blue coat (this one is a beautiful textured blue coat, under $175), and layer similar shades of blue to build a tonal monochromatic look.

BLUE to PURPLE

Our last and our softest color – purple.  All of the other featured colors are quite striking, but this particular shade of purple is the opposite.  Gentle and soft, this particular shade exudes a sense of peaceful wandering.  Purple is a color that I need to get more of.  I find it so charming!  This particular light shade of purple pairs well with other soft tones such as mint and peach.  And surprisingly, also pairs well with warm earth tones such as amber and chestnut.

I hope you enjoy this post and the color stories.  Just in case there was a particular color that you had reservations about, I hope this post gives you that extra encouragement to try.  Please stay warm and thank you so much for reading!
